This could also be very bad for diversity in science, because certain less-developed countries tend to submit the most fraudulent papers, and now that they will be harder to distinguish from the good work from those countries, all work from there will generally be under suspicion.

Scientific journals will either become a very big part of the disinformation chaos that will afflict our societies, or they can be one of the islands of little disinformation, but to do so they will have to adopt data chain-of-custody tools to avoid "deepfake data".
