Sounds great. Until you realise that if politicians and officials get to use their own end-2-end encrypted communication app, there is very little stopping them from backdooring Signal and Whatsapp. Remember that state security risks were the main reason why Dutch intelligence opposed client side scanning!

@xot most governments seems to be moving to Matrix... which we can all use just the same? I never used either WhatsApp or Signal myself, so I wouldn't know if there's a particular reason to look into either of them. They are both centralized which I believe is ultimately flawed.
