I think a lot about a talk that Linda Garcia Merchant gave years ago at UNL's DH Afternoons: "Telling a Lie, Praxis as Purpose: Teaching Intro to DH Estilo Chingona." She wanted her students to stumble or even fail at building a digital humanities project so that they could pick themselves back up and try again from a different angle. In so doing, they would learn more than she could otherwise teach them. "Praxis as purpose" echoes in my head all the time when I read about AI.
