Hmmmm. So Mainfreight are disappointed that KiwiRail don't want to talk to them. Why is it that Mainfreight are only NOW talking to KiwiRail about moving freight efficiently?
Trains have ALWAYS been more efficient than trucks. Yet between government sell-offs and under-investment in rail and the simultaneous road-centric spend-ups, we should be thankful that KiwiRail is still in business!
I clearly remember conversations in the 1980s that more needed to be done to utilise rail.
Heck, even this headline is favouring the trucks. Mayor Brown's comment was in response to Mainfreight begging to use bus lanes to save fuel!
