@sturmsucht So basically they want to create competition, not an alternative. And make monetisation the primary incentive of being there, which is one of the main reasons ragebait, misinformation, and content curated to induce negative reactions are currently thriving. Yeah, "standing up to the big tech companies" alright. 🙃

@fringemagnet you phrased it perfectly. It's not about "un-shittifying" social media. They see a market opportunity and want to make money by deliberately portraying Mastodon as something that fascists use. Also Trump's Truth Social happened waaaay before their wedium idea was born. This whole section about why they don't federate is just a big lie and can only mean they see Mastodon as a true competitor in their market.
