@RaphaelWimmer we don't hire students in to do a predetermined project, we require them to show up with their own (at least plausible) project and then pitch us on its fit with faculty/questions in the field. That's often a big lift for them, so we read plans of study very carefully to think about their writing ability and aptitude for forming research questions... But there's always a lot of generosity in those evaluations. AI slop, however, is taking up too much of that generosity.
