Turns out it works if both machines are attached via Ethernet to the same router. Initial setup: machine 1 (emulated) Main Router DD-WRT machine 2 (real dos hardware) So after failing 30 years ago to get ROTT working on an IPX network I finally got closure. Ironically Doom running on real hardware could find the emulated machine, but not the other way around with the initial setup.
