@Cheeseness @ticho i'm btw no firefly "fan". i watched it but it's not stuck in my head as a formative experience. i only defend storytelling and art in general. stories thrive on conflict. i acknowledge that details such as the one you named invite to confront real world trauma, and i'm not always ready for it either. perhaps firefly is indeed presently not what this time needs. sometimes there are days when i can only stand to listen to purely instrumental music.
