@lritter @Cheeseness I agree, this whole "it is US civil war dogwhistle, kinda" viewpoint is very overblown, and very US-centric... And, to a non-US person, very self-absorbed.
The world is bigger than the USA, and there have been many more oppressive regimes and resistance movements throughout the history of our planet.
And if someone reads "we'll rise again" as "south will rise again", then that's apparently what they *want* to get out of it.

@lritter @Cheeseness That said, every "big" piece of media has something questionable in it. E.g. Stargate SG-1 is a bit cringeworthy to me because of all the "go USAF, go America", especially in the early seasons, but I still love the series.
