ooft, the stuff of nightmares.
The lift in my building was replaced about 8 years ago.
When previous lift was getting beyond repair because it over 50 years old it would occasionally overshoot the floor it was going to when going up.
I would press for floor 2 and would slow down at my floor but not quite stop and creep slowly up to the 4th floor where it would stop. You would then have to press for floor 2 again and it would go down and stop fine.

@raymierussell Yeah, never a fan of elevators going real slow for no good reason.
