One way Ruby Central could rebuild trust is to admit that the financial situation they find themselves in now is due to their decision last year to platform a transphobic white supremacist despite vocal opposition from the community. (I believe there are people at Ruby Central who are genuinely trying to make things better, and I am sure it’s a difficult job for many reasons, but for the record: this was not a shitpost, and“you should join the board if you don’t want us to celebrate bigots” is not an acceptable response)

@sstephenson their entire existence would be so much easier, with so much more community support, if they just took genuine responsibility to admit the damage they did, make repairs to the people they hurt, and just admit that they should not have platformed who they did. Hubris is still holding them back
