So kids had an event to go to (a friend in a high school musical) and we ended up driving them all the way there and had 3 hrs to kill before pickup, so partner and I had the evening to ourselves.
What did we do? Oh explored a bit - found a place with stuffed and fresh hand slapped after ordering, most excellent cheesy pupusas (including loroco). Then strolled around and loitered and enjoyed looking at wares in an Ecuadorian grocery store. Picked up a few things, saw some new to us stuff.

Two of the new to us items (didn't get either - maybe some other time) Ullucos - tuber of sorts; frozen And (jam/jelly of) pechiche (so tempted to get that but too big a jar; looking up - Vitex cymosa - seems to resemble jamun (Java plum) from India). A bunch of other dried herbs I haven't seen in other places - including Chanca piedra and Valerian root
