Contact with Signal (https://support.signal.org/hc/en-us/articles/6746004451610-Contact-Us) or any Signal representative will ONLY come from an @signal.org email address, not from within the app. And again, we will never ask for your PIN or verification code. And we do not reach out proactively, only in response to your requests.4/

If you do receive a message you think is suspicious, report it as Spam and block the sender so that they cannot contact you again. AKA basic comms hygiene to preserve your peace. 5/

@Mer__edith The app keeps asking me for the PIN to verify that my password manager hasn't flipped any bits or something. I can see people getting used to typing their PIN into Signal. 🤔 Granted: In my mind, the disctinction between "the app" and "a chat in the app" ia rather clear. But, as a software engineer, I'm also aware that I'm not The User.

@Mer__edith but, wait: the Signal app, itself, on my Android phone, asks me regularly for my PIN. Um … is that problematic, too?
