@davidlohner investment in being here, in learning about others as much as talking here, then it is likely to be a failure.
The reward is the same as the "punishment" - a lack of an algorithm. You will be able to communicate what you want as long as it doesn't violate your instance's rules. Unlike Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok, etc., it's not hiding what you write (muting, blocking is an individual decision), but neither is it promoting it. Your community decides what it is interested in boosting.

@davidlohner You will have more independence here in what you see of others and what you yourselves post. You can be a bit more listened to when it comes to shaping what the Fediverse becomes. Given how many institutions around the world are showing ethical problems and signs of other strains, it's exciting to possibly build new ways of doing things, including #SciComm Secondarily, I'd echo what others say about using a couple hashtags, I'd emphasize how important it is to learn how to create
