46% of the oil goes into road transport as fuel, as diesel and petrol. The origin and the processing is highly concentrated. A lot of that money goes to sheiks and Putin and Exxon and Shell. With running an electric car or reducing the use of a car all together, you don't support them and their extraordinary profits to the same degree. Reducing plastic use (15% of oil use) is another factor. Surely, there are environmental benefits as well.
