We’re at Mac OS 26.4 and seems like the accessibility toggles should be way more considered than they are. Here’s a comparison between “Reduce transparency” off and on. How does it make sense that turning this setting *on* actually *reduces* contrast between the background and the UI elements? Buttons and sidebars get this grey cast, which makes them almost blend in with the drop shadows.

The system is also still lacking polish everywhere. I especially love how the “don’t-call-it-Launchpad” animates in when you pinch with multiple fingers (which you can’t turn off anymore, mind you). You will be staring at an enlarged, blurry version of the UI until you finish the gesture and then it snaps into the final state. Launchpad on the other hand? It would animate smoothly, following the movement of your fingers.

@tuomas_h@mastodon.social Every time I think about upgrading to 26, I see something like this and come to my senses. My Mac stays on 15 and my iPhone stays on 18 until Apple gets their sh!t together...
