We prefer #Mastodon for several reasons, the main one being its ability to easily form independent, community-driven interoperable instances. Nevertheless, we have a #Bluesky account so as not to exclude people who prefer this alternative. Recently we migrated our original account from the main BlueSky PDS to the EuroSky PDS (@eurosky.social). All day, it was impossible to access BlueSky using the official app. Can anyone explain why? This is problematic in terms of #decentralization. #ATProto

@leavex this thread by @mcc is worth a read on the subject: https://mastodon.social/@mcc/116415821939972420

@leavex PDS is one part of the network, you also need a relay, and an AppView. Even Blacksky, the only "independent" community still relies on Bluesky to some degree. See a great explainer thread here: https://mastodon.social/@mcc/116415821939972420

@leavex The Bluesky outage apparently is due to a DoS attack: https://techcrunch.com/2026/04/16/its-not-just-you-bluesky-is-sorta-down/ #Bluesky #DDoS

@leavex@mastodon.social @eurosky.social Bluesky is pseudo-decentralized. All the AT Protocol "apps" appear to only be curations of the main feed with new interfaces. Go with #mastodon #Bskysucks #outages-can't-strike-every-activitypub-instance #say-no-to-billionaire-socials #mastodon

  • @leavex It's quite simple: Bluesky—and its equally inferior copy, Eurosky—is nothing more than a cheap imitation of major social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and others. The supposed decentralization is wishful thinking, not to say a fairy tale. True decentralization is only found in the #Fediverse I can't and don't want to understand why so many people are abandoning the "big networks" and then ending up back with a centralized service like BlueSky/Eurosky. Both services are already on the verge of monetization. If you truly want independent services, you should look around in the Fediverse and, if possible, choose a smaller instance, or even host it yourself. I'm also starting to see instances with several thousand users (like mastodon.social) as a problem. @eurosky.social
