What exactly does everyone mean when they say Bluesky is down? Presumably it's not the PDS since it seems to be affecting other PDS too. Is it the appview? (In which case, other appviews, like Whitewind, should still be working.) Is it the relay? (Which would stop just about everything.) Do outages like this take out the other *sky networks as well?

@lrhodes@merveilles.town I'm guessing like most networked services usually when someone says "Blah is down" it means packets can't arrive through their relayed area of the net either because of heavy traffic or because of technical issues ranging from somone tripping over a cable and loosening it to a Russian naval ship accidentally snagging an undersea cable.

@lrhodes@merveilles.town unable to confirm as it just now came back when I tried a different client. Suffice to say I'm using Eurosky and was also affected

  • @lrhodes@merveilles.town I was wondering that, too. I'm on Blacksky, and while I don't check in there regularly, I've been on a few times this morning and everything seems fine. I haven't seen anyone complaining, and 99% of my main feed is people on Bluesky itself.
