The only way to do that is to buy the wasteful little one use plastic seals. When that water cooler dies I suggest replacing it with a version with a pump, where the water jug sits right side up inside the machine.
Been sanitizing and refilling with RO from my sink for years

@TeflonTrout the issue is that this is owned by work and we aren't paying for water now (log story with contracts), so replacing the cooler isn't in the cards. If we were to do that I had proposed going straight to an RO cooler system, but we have some sink access issues.
