It was also a bit of a puzzle to me how to torque the nuts on the tops of the struts. Looks like the fancy people have some sort of through-hole torque wrench setup.
This ratchet spanner perversion is the image from the VW repair manual.
I think I'm just gonna have to buzz them with the impact and hope TBH.

Buzzing with the impact did do a thing on the front struts, but it just spins the back ones so I need to do that with a normal spanner and some sort of grips/adjustable on the top bit I guess. I'll probably so similar on the front struts just to make sure they feel tight.
