@Casey Based on some of what I've been seeing with the new users from the theforkiverse.com instance (and even from some of the other more established instances) it might be useful to write or record a small primer about the idiosyncrasies of Mastodon. Specifically: - How to follow people on other instances. If asked, you don't need to sign up on other instances, just copy and paste the URL into the Mastodon search bar. - How to migrate your account onto another instance. Looks like you guys are getting quite the number of user sign-ups, and unless you want to become sysadmins by upping the user limit above 2,000, you might want to encourage people to move to other instances once they have gotten their feet wet. - Maybe a bot to explain all of this to new users, sort of like how My Space made every new user a friend with "Tom", then "Tom" could send a couple of DM's to them. Good luck with all of this, I'm excited to see you succeed!

@evdelen @Casey Yeah I was really surprised at the low limits mentioned in the podcast but figured, like they probably did, if you’re hitting the limits that’s a nice surprise. It is smart to have a roadmap though, if it seems like there is at all a possibility of hitting the limits. Because it’s much easier to execute the contingency plan when you come up with it ahead of time, than when people are complaining they can’t sign up because the limits have been hit. 😂
