Staff pick:
Tom Carnase’s Bernase Roman in early use for “Make America a better place”. The campaign for the Peace Corps was designed in 1968 by Bernie Zlotnick at Young & Rubicam. Copywriting by Mort Redner, photo by Carl Fischer.

Contributor Garrison’s compelling theory: this might be Bernase Roman’s original use (it was officially released by ITC in 1970), and its name is a portmanteau of Bernie Zlotnick + Tom Carnase.

@FontsInUse@typo.social I can second that theory. Bernie himself told me that the name is indeed Carnase+Bernie. He may have been the one to commission it from Tom. Bernie used to work with Tom under Herb Lubalin. Carl Fischer also worked with Herb.
