One of the principal problems with being trapped inside your own head is that you cannot physically fit all the potential solutions into that tiny physical volume. Connecting with others in the hopes that they may be able to trap a solution or two in their heads increases probability of resolution.

Economics teachers love to tell stories of how a simple everyday item comes into being, the dependent-origination of a pencil or a cup of coffee. It takes dozens if not hundreds of others to place that drink in that cup in your hand... and relying on others to help with a problem in your head is really no different.
