Yet another example of England & the US being separated by a common language* from a BBC Sport headline: "Two fans get first banning orders for tailgating" Tailgating in the US is a party in a parking lot before a game -- usually American football -- which comes from the act of opening one's trunk/boot to enjoy food and drink.
