Germans: "You can't have air conditioning for increasing the comfort of humans, only for the machines, because air conditioning for humans is not environmentally friendly!" Also Germany: "€1.6 billion fossil fuel price relief!!!!" #Germany #ClimateChange #ClimateCatastrophe #fossilLobby #fossilFuel #CDU

@rhelune It's amazing how we can have air conditioned cars but not homes, workplaces and gyms.

@rhelune I always wonder how much of that “air conditioning homes/offices is not environmentally friendly, m'kay” mantra has a factual base in countries with high PV adoption like Germany, given that power needs for A/C are typically highest when solar generation (and often excess supply) peaks. Sounds like a perfect match to me – if the A/C infrastructure, refrigerants etc. can be produced in an environmentally reasonable way and the “smart grid” does its magic, of course.

@rhelune Oh, this always amuses me :drgn_blush_giggle: , how hoomans prefer to strive from heat waves, but don't use air conditioning because of eNvIrOnMeNt. Meanwhile, in China:

@rhelune Also the same "funny" (not so funny) thing: a long time ago, a lot of nuclear power plants were closed in Germany, because of "radioactivity is bad, m-kay". Then, to close the gap in the electricity production, the fossil-fuel power plants were using, while completely ignoring the fact, what burning fossil fuel emits more radioactive particles in the atmosphere, than the nuclear power plant, lmao :drgn_blush_giggle:
