The second most annoying thing on the Internet is people who adopt Icelandic names but don't ask a native speaker to check their grammar first. Also, please stop using my culture as a cover for your white supremacy.

Marketing people are so dumb about measurement units. What about selling power banks in amp-hours instead of kilo-milli-amp-hours? Would that be too easy? Dumb fucks.

The LinkedIn feed is basically just people with titles like "senior expert staff deep-learning cloud marketing consultant" going like this: "Before forming a strong opinion about heroin, I recommend giving it an honest try and seeing whether you can get the same results people are talking about. I say that as someone who has repeatedly resisted change and now I can't even get out of bed without the thought of having one more hit."

I haven't even finished my first coffee and I almost sprayed it all over my desk over this wonderful LinkedIn take: "Senior developers don't know more than junior devs, they just retrieve what they know faster" Buddy. I probably work slower than you. That's not the point. A senior dev knows that your KPIs are unrealistic, that the company is crumbling within the next two quarters and does not take pizza as bribe. We've seen all of this before. But do hire an optimis...

Hey nerds. Tell me how I make Fedora/Gnome stop reading three-finger taps as a middle click. It's needlessly annoying.

So they're going to go all in with racial profiling and close Vietnamese owned nail salons like they've been doing back in Iceland?

If you're worried about your project manager not prioritising web accessibility or someone up the chain calling you an "activist", just start framing accessibility as "the agentic browsing experience" and "GEO optimisation". Suddenly making it about machines not being able to hijack information from your site effectively instead of actual human customers makes you the most popular developer in the office.

Please tell me how your AI generated NextJS site performs better than a WordPress or Joomla site made and run by someone who knows what they're doing. I would also be curious about any accessibility and usability testing that the people preaching for those things are doing. Here's the performance metrics for my slop-free WordPress site while we wait. I can remove the WooCommerce cart from my site to get those 4 accessibility points back if you want.

Having a good mix of American and British followers, I'm tempted to ask if I'm actually pronouncing the following words wrong: - Sewing, which I pronounce as soowing because sowing is a different thing. - Mountain, which I don't pronounce as moun'in because then I sound like an old lady from Atlanta - Costco, which to Americans has a silent t, but I've heard British people pronounce with the t.

Observation about Germany: Heat pumps are left wing and "woke" as far as German politics are concerned. German politics have however not figured if installing air conditioners in public buildings and hospitals is a left-wing or right-wing talking point and therefore German politicians don't know how to approach the subject. However, it is perfectly normal to send bespoke-built police water cannon trucks to public events for cooling them down.

The greatest business idea of the 21st century is a massive computer system that answers your questions by rephrasing what some guy on a forum said 8 years ago. It also makes cartoon porn.

Due to its lack of a proper ORM, n+1 queries are a virtually unknown concept in the #WordPress space but very mch present as a problem. You may be able to use the built-in WP_Query interface (or WC_Product_Query) but it is extremely limited in its capabilities. For those not in the know, an ORM is a software library that takes care of generating SQL queries from calls that use constructs from your programming language.

The AI destroyed our systems: It's sinister and coming for our jobs. This is what the future brings. It's breaking out of confinement. The intern dropped the database: Because our IAM policies were bad and we should have more oversight. Just be more careful next time.

To follow up on the Ubuntu/Canonical Launchpad downtime, they seem to have decided to get the services up and running according to their status page, but Launchpad remains unreachable from the Internet. Not much has been communicated about this and even blog.launchpad.net seems to return a 503 error, indicating that the load balancer may be up, but the services themselves are not responding.

Compound words in languages like Icelandic and German are useful because they help you see the difference between a criminal lawyer and a criminal lawyer.
