I've set an alert for a used/out of print book and every time I get a notification the price has gone up. Now £250. Sigh.

@Talia@mstdn.social I'm pretty sure price alert services are all susceptible to being gamed by LLM-assisted grifters. Who will drive the price up deliberately to panic buyers into pulling the trigger to avoid further increases. Bots have been messing with s/h prices all over Amazon for years and AI slop makes everything worse for real humans.
