@julijane@ruhr.social ja. Zusätzlich wichtig: möglichst vertikal stapfen, um zu verhindern, dass die Sohlen über das Eis gleiten. Also wie eine Kreuzung aus Pinguin und Toddler.

@julijane@ruhr.social Old ladies know how to walk on ice - hunched forward a bit, small shuffling steps, take your time. That's how they get old.

@julijane@ruhr.social My & @Microfractal@mathstodon.xyz's solution was to carefully spot ice-less regions of the terrain like rocks or gutters and strategically plan a route to minimise icy traversal

@julijane@ruhr.social Besides knowing how to walk on ice, penguins do have natural crampons on their feet. An essential component!

@julijane@ruhr.social And if you can find some, get YakTrax or similar. They pull on over your boots and work especially well on snow that's been compressed down into hard ice. Bonus tip: Take along a little bag to put them in when you arrive somewhere you can take them off.

@julijane@ruhr.social Doesn't work in Berlin with cobblestones... here you first have to learn to pedal at the right angle, and also have the ability to laugh when you fall.

@julijane@ruhr.social Last night we had a drizzling mist over frozen ground. The result was a thin layer of ice everywhere. To get into the house I have to walk down a slope down and up around the house. The only way to manage that iced obstacle was to do it barefoot and attached to any physical object on reach… I thought my feet would fall off! 🥶❄️⛸️
