Also, I think you must be deranged to want to be president in your '80s. I'm in my early 60s and I yearn to semi-retire and potter around bookshops and sit reading in local cafes and libraries.

@timrichards I"d like to see a law that you can't stand for election or be appointed into Senate vacancies if you are over 60. I'm older than that and have not observed the so called wisdom that comes with age. The median age of parliament should be the same as of the population generally, about 38 I think. #auspol

@timrichards that's really not true - only Biden and Trump have been this old as President. Mid-50's is prolly the median. Reagan was 69 to 77 when in office and everyone thought he was ancient. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_presidents_of_the_United_States_by_age Others - ie, not the equivalent of Premier or Prime Minister - stick around forever because it's a cushy job they can sleep through
