@tanja@mastodon.catgirl.cloud If someone wants to use a weak license, Apache 2.0 is the best license to use - all the other weak licenses are incompetently written. GPLv3-or-later or AGPLv3-or-later is of course a much better choice. The EUPLv1.2 is generally best avoided; https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#EUPL-1.2

@tanja I don't like the GPLs and personally prefer MPL-2.0; but there's definitely stuff where I don't really care about licensing, so I MIT it, because that license is easy to understand and has little attachments

@tanja Speaking from experience, corporations don't care about software license violations in their own closed systems if they can get away with it. Making your software undesirable for capitalists is much better. Litter it with propaganda and make it contain a new "not safe for work" element every so often.

@tanja I would be down in an ideal world, but how does that handle software for proprietary platforms like game consoles or iOS? I think if you make a game with GPL3 you can’t put it on the Nintendo switch for example
