Watching white people discuss the civility of mastodon and then exchange congratulations on the congeniality of the place. This conversation has been going on as long as I have been here. I fell into it myself the first few times. And then I heard some people talking about their very different experiences. But seeing someone say they can only discuss their rosy lived experience is a new take. I wonder why they won't consider the lived experience of others. The day we allow each other to inform our understanding of reality is the day we begin to get each other free. (Refusing to accept lived experience is how we as a society demonize victims of systemic violence. Anita Hill's testimony is a good example of this.)
