here&#39;s a free tip for all the #TwitterMigration people: mastodon ONLY has text search for your toots, and the toots of people you follow, nothing beyond that, so you MUST use hashtags for others to be able to find things you post. And don&#39;t be afraid to use them, unlike the hellsite, mastodon doesn&#39;t limit your reach in any way based on how many hashtags or links you use in your posts :) and there&#39;s an edit button too :catjam: and make sure to follow @feditips for more awesome Mastodon Tips™

@lashman@mastodon.social You might have the Edit button on mastodon.social already (as they trial stuff there) but others will get it when their instance moves up to version 4. At the moment we only have "Delete and Re-draft". But yes "Edit" will arrive for others soon.

If I use the search for, say, the sentence "Welcome to Mastodon", it'll only show results of people I know (and mine). But if I use the search for #welcometomastodon I'll see the results for the entire platform or instance ?
