#StarTrek #StarTrekVoyager Star Trek loves teaching about the joy of making art. I guess it makes sens for creators to talk about creation. As such the characters with a background that is alien to art are the ultimate foil for the story. But this does put the character explaining art in an authority position. In case of Jean-Luc and Kathryn, it seems like they assume some kind of parental role over Data and 7 respectively. I guess it's even stronger in Kathryn's case since 7 have been a Borg since she was a child, while Data's "Childhood" is... not really though of. I don't know that the show ever consider Data a child, otherwise that second episode would have some very unfortunate implications.
