On a similar note, people are very rah rah about Mastodon, but my instance is run by a guy in America who has a family in America, and he's a great guy but I don't expect him to say "no I'll go to jail instead of moderating as you prefer, political officer" My impression is that #Mastodon is a huge PITA to set up on raw metal and most people use a hosting service. Which of those are set up to resist American pressure? #section230
