I've had this argument for the last 20 years as someone that started using Linux in 1999 and like OSS.
Just because it's OSS doesn't mean it's more secure. That idea should've been put down when we learnt about Shellshock and Heartbleed.
Here we are again, old bugs getting dug up. Why didn't the eyes looking at the code see them? The most secure code...
This is basically security through obscurity. We claim OSS is super secure and everyone believes that and we assume bad actors believe it too.
We should actually treat it as less secure, because if a bad actor finds a bug, they will not help fix it, just exploit it.
