I should be old enough to say, kids these days. Instead I find myself saying, old people these days.
Boomers and even some millennials seem to view everything negative when it comes to tech. You know, the very tech they grew up with and used. Not forgetting still use obsessively.
I'm GenX and as usual, we are ignored and not heard, because we do what we were taught. Stay silent and unseen.
If some of you knew the fucked up stuff we saw, you'd be scared.
Hell, even commercial stuff were weird. Beavis and Butthead anyone?
Yes, the algorithms are more devious now, but try to teach your kids what's good and bad instead of panicking. Because that is what you are teaching them. Moral panic over everything. And then you wonder why your precious little prince ends up more conservative than you...
My kiddo has come across these so-called dangerous AI-slop cat videos. His reaction? Ridiculous shit. That's his own made-up reaction to it.
Also, maybe try to take an interest in what your kid is doing. View video games as any other hobby. Bond with your kid. Lead with example and stop living your life on IG and FB.
Only reason your kid is glued to a screen is because they saw you glued to it. Stop blaming everyone else.
However, if you both enjoy stuff on the screen, then make what is consumed wholesome.
Worst thing I experienced as a kid was being told I was wasting my time playing a game for two hours, while later that evening an adult with sit in front of a TV for hours breathing through their mouth with an empty gaze.
