Blurry iPhone Photo of the Day: female black-chinned (or possibly ruby-throated) hummie; I’m just a dumb backyard birder so I don’t know for sure. Merlin app heard both. Either way she’s cute af. Turns out I’m astonishingly bad at distinguishing bird calls. Don’t know where I’d be without Merlin. It’s helped me solve numerous avian mysteries. Today I finally ID’d both a Nashville warbler AND a blue-gray gnatcatcher! So many backyard birds, so little time. #birds #birding
