Always wear a hat. Ticks climb up. If you’re going into the woods or knee-high grass, dress from the top down and tuck uppers into lowers (pant legs into socks, shirt into pants, etc). Wet a gaiter/balaclava and hat in the highest concentration of permethrin you can find, minimize skin contact and don’t wash it. Reminder of how small ticks can be:

@eriner we’ve found 3 deer ticks in our house and our dogs have the Sorrento tick flea colors. They probably jumped off because of them.

@eriner seconded, they are really the best! some people say it doesn't work but i found 1:5 dilution of eucalyptus citriodora oil in another skin friendly oil works pretty well as repellent. you have to put it on liberally and almost everywhere though. if you rather use deet that's fine as well, just stating my experience.

@eriner Added those tick tornadoes to the kit. Here a tick, there a tick. Everyone's a heretic. I like mosquito suits. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MF9B29R https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09DRR79F4
