Always wear a hat. Ticks climb up. If you’re going into the woods or knee-high grass, dress from the top down and tuck uppers into lowers (pant legs into socks, shirt into pants, etc). Wet a gaiter/balaclava and hat in the highest concentration of permethrin you can find, minimize skin contact and don’t wash it. Reminder of how small ticks can be:

Related: learn how to identify poison vines. And if you think you've been in contact with poison, keep a bottle of dawn and a small tub of dark-colored automotive grease in your shower. Before you shower, rub a small amount of the grease on your hands and any exposed skin. This acts as a marking dye in the same way that the pink plaque tablets or blue herbicide dyes do. Now scrub yourself WITH A WASHCLOTH and dawn. As the grease will show, the friction of a cloth is REQUIRED to remove the oil

@eriner You won't catch me in the woods without my stirrup yoga pants and Kevlar-Lycra™ thigh-high stockings.

  • @eriner protip: DEET 25%, most tested on human chemical in history, never wash your hat, spray top of your boots, bottom of your pants but don't walk around like a birkensocks tucked faggoid

  • @eriner yeah I got my first one of the season, just like last year, ended up sleeping on it and killing it, but they just dig deeper and now got a flare up. Some things: coconut oil prevents them touching skin treated with it. If bit, use a fine clay and some water to draw out their barf and other garbage. Homeopathic ledum is great for many bug bites, including ticks.
