@chadkoh@indieweb.social Interesting I understand in this day & age of strife & war around fossil fuels, & also climate change it is good to see these alternatives showing up & being used effectively However, want to caution about the tech some countries are using. As a resident in the himalayas, with good knowledge of hydro power, i can say it is not really renewable (glaciers will be gone in 30 odd years), these are also socially & ecologically dirty + climate change issues too https://web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/jacobson/WWSBook/Countries100Pct.pdf

@chadkoh@indieweb.social This makes a huge difference in trying to make the current wars in the middle east pointless. We all know that since WWII pretty much all wars have been about oil money. Or just blatant land grabs, but mostly about oil. America occasionally invades countries if they get a bit socialist regardless of oil, but they tend to do it covertly.

@chadkoh@indieweb.social I thought it was interesting that 15 US states get 50% or more of their energy from renewables, led by North Dakota... If I remember right they're at 142%...

@chadkoh@indieweb.social fortunately, (from what i've read) power production using renewable sources is like buying an EV. Higher upfront deployment cost but cheaper energy prices. And usually power companies like to cheap out on non-renewable sources of energy that's cheap to produce but results in higher energy prices. So how do we convince power companies to produce power from renewable sources? Government incentive, perhaps?
