@pwaring@social.xk7.net Blocks are on the blocking user's instance, and not third-party pollable... It's always been that way but after the rash of "block-policing" on Bsky I imagine it's a permanent decision. The other thing it's caused is people trying to get to the top of Skyview's "number blocking" or "number blocked by" stats, which is just... nuts.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net nope, blocks and mutes are private on ActivityPub because that information can be used for harassment purposes. Unsavory people on BSky have been going through their sempai's blockers to find harassment targets.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net people do make use of blocking and muting differently though. I for example usually prefer muting anyone who gets on my nerves or spams stuff that I don't want to see under a hashtag or who interacts in a disrespectful way. I have many many accounts muted - so they don't even know I don't want to see them and their content and so they don't get agitated or aggressive. I reserve blocking only for the most vile accounts or for the most aggressive spam accounts and these are few.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net Not sure how many I have, but I’ve blocked and reported a bunch of obvious spam / scam accounts, so more than one. I’ve blocked a couple of real accounts, but only when I’ve seen behaviour that I just don’t need to see or risk interacting with in the future. Mainly prefer to mute, normally for a short time and see if I still feel the same way in a few days.

@pwaring@social.xk7.net Have I got this right - you want to find out if Person A has blocked another person (B) based on reading person B's profile? And then count that as a bad thing to do???
