I've seen them trying to design a "flag for humanity" recently and every design really is just "we are gay" over and over again. I don't think aliens need to know that we have hands, or that we love each other. The flag of "humanity" should really only reflect the cultures of those who actually explored space meaningfully. It should also serve as a warning to not mess with us, while also inspiring us to face adversity head on. Also, I'm certain that the "reddit flag rules" were invented by people who suck at art. There is no spirit or soul in any of their flags. Everything is square, with big blocky shapes, and a star or a crescent thrown in there. Or maybe it's literally a map to Earth. Or just a picture of Earth. This inspired my to make my own flag design (mostly I wanted to practice draw something on my new tablet). Rules were to basically break every dumb flag rule that people push, while also trying to be thoughtful about including actual cultural symbols, metaphors, vibs etc. as well as things that I've personally been thinking about lately. Basically, be deliberate. I wont pretend like it's good, because I know it's not, but I will say that I think it's better than basically every one of the "I love you" space flags.
