I played some with a Dektronics Printalyzer Densitometer, a step wedge, and Fomapan 100. This is, essentially, the BTZS testing originated by Phil Davis.
I ran into two probs: reciprocity for the film exposure, and really exaggerated temperature sensitivity (much more than generic tables would lead you to believe).
These are not controlled as tightly for 20C as they should be, but useful data.

This pair of curves compares true 10m at 20C versus the MDC calculated 11:17 at 18.5C (it was chilly that night). The curve just doesn't match. The longer dev curve has higher DMAX but a longer toe. And just a different shape. I had read that Fomapan 100 really needs to be developed at a consistent temperature, but this really shows it. All 8x10 sheet film, by the way. 2/
