It's odd now that Easter Sunday has become the day everything's shut. A couple of decades ago it was Good Friday. Now that's like a normal trading day (maybe with Sunday hours), but Easter Sunday has become like Christmas Day.

@chiffchaff I think the UK laws are that you can't open on Easter Sunday but the rest aren't special.

@chiffchaff In England the Sunday Trading Law (Sunday Trading Act 1994) mandate that larger shops - those over 280 m2 floor space cannot open on Easter Sunday, and have not been allowed to since the law came into effect in 1995. Traditionally shops would also observe Good Friday as a 'Bank Holiday' and close, but this has always been voluntary and seems to have gone by the board in recent years. (Christmas day opening is prevented by a different law : Christmas Day (Trading) Act 2004)
