even if there's some reason this isn't a genuine shakedown, i sure FEEL like i've been scammed. i didn't pay just for repairability, i paid for a long-life product that i thought i would have for years BECAUSE it was repairable IN THE EVENT of failure- there's a difference. Repairable design is no good if the thing needs to CONSTANTLY be repaired. That still helps no one. knowing now that failure was not an event, but a design guarantee ruins the entire fucking point of it being repairable. a business thinkpad is repairable, but it also doesnt break on purpose to offset the cost of repairability.

    @buncube This. The best part of the laptop is that I can easily slot out the USB-C extension slots and use them for various purposes. Oh, and that I can order blank keyboards. But otherwise it's build quality is shoddy (similar problem with Fairphone IMO). I just buy used devices in good condition, be they macBooks, ThinkPads or Pixel phones. They last longer.
