I wonder if there is an image format useable for "streaming progressive enhancement": - Image file can be cropped at any point from beginning to Nth byte and the image could be displayed with _some_ level of representation of the _entire_ image - The more of image data is preserved, the more sharp/detailed/precise the image can be rendered This could have an amazing application as images for websites would not have to be downscaled and cached. Clients would just load "enough" for given view
