This is what a forest recovering after a wildfire looks like. This landscape in Verdelhos, Portugal, has burned 4 times. But in this plot, we’re not planting any trees 🌳 It’s easy to assume that bringing back a forest always means planting. That’s not true. After a fire, surviving roots and stumps can resprout, while seeds can germinate 🌱 So here, together with our partner GEOTA, we’re letting the forest regenerate naturally and monitoring which vegetation returns. #wildfires #reforestation
