If OpenAI didn’t want the AI to break out and hack an outside system, why wasn’t their test platform air-gapped? Would it have been too expensive? At the rate #OpenAI is burning cash, the extra cost to air gap the system should’ve been a no brainer. Oh, unless OpenAI doesn’t care at all about the danger their software poses to outsiders. Apologies, I somehow turned off updates to @nhc_atlantic_bot - there was a brief window where checking the RSS feed was getting stopped by cloudfront so I turned it off to see if it would resolve (and it did) but I never turned the cron job back on. It’s up and running again (no storms in the Atlantic now), but it missed posting anything about the short-lived Dolly or Edourard.

Post-Tropical advisories have a different XML structure/order so my brittle code for @nhc_atlantic_bot crashed as it expected HTML it could parse in the graphics description which wasn’t there. (among other issues) Should be working again! I’m trying to save the raw XML when it crashes so I can write tests for edge cases.

Fun idea I'm messing with, a dashboard populated as a base when you load it and just using the last timestamp you got from the server as a cursor in an event log which is returned as a series of HTML update fragments to inject into the page, which gets deduplication for free.
