Knowing cashmere comes from goats is not enough. Effective advocacy means understanding what people value, avoiding needless defensiveness, making the goat visible, and giving concern somewhere useful to go. Here’s how to do it. https://open.substack.com/pub/herbivoreclub/p/the-animal-advocates-guide-to-cashmere

I was doing quick portrait drawings over the weekend at the local art event space/pub. All of the drawings yesterday were done from people on the street and they took their pictures home. Today, everyone at the space dressed up with medieval clothes and the volunteers and waitresses were sitting mostly. So I was able to at least take some pictures :D I had fun drawing. #drawing #charcoaldrawing #portraitdrawing #portrait #art #imadethis #kunst #mastoart #fediart

Been headhunting again today. I was distracted by how shiny the model’s skin was maybe I should have painted it even shinier. Other than that, form, light all that stuff. I don’t think I enjoy black backgrounds very much anymore. Also, the paint sinks in really fast. #portrait #portraitpainting #painting #oilpainting #allaprima #art #imadethis #mastoart #fediart

Today I went to the sandbank near Kootwijk. There was a viewing tower that was quite high above ground and I decided to paint from up there. I actually have some fear of heights so this was pretty nerve wracking. Also had to paint with the panel in the shadow all the time so the colours came put a bit funky. But i got it done and I was facing my fears at least. #landscape #landscapepainting #oilpainting #allaprima #pleinair #painting #art #kunst #imadethis #mastoart #fediart

Very enjoyable painting session today. Of course over the course of one sitting, there is loads I’d love to have done better. However, i believe there are some parts of it, color and edge treatment, that I find alright. #portraits #portraitpainting #painting #oilpainting #art #imadethis #mastoart #fediart #kunst #schilderen

#threegoodthings 1. Everything my birthday boy did or wanted went his way: 50% off pizza, homecooked favourite meal, company for drinks, #OnlyConnect, new-to-us #BusterKeaton film (I thought I saw all the good films, I hadn't!) 2.. I get intrusive messages that my device can't meet the execrable #GeminiAssistant's requirements, but at least we know the Assistant can't work. 3. Slept beautifully which I define as not staying awake after 4 AM and being well-rested when my eyes ope...

We just did another bridge protest and then talked for an hour about local No Kings stuff and the election. I am tired and in bed with my floof cat. Protest thread #129 will be tomorrow. Boy do I have some silly stuff to show you!
