  • In that fleeting moment the grim mystery of life was revealed before Grignr's ensnared gaze.

  • "As you wish sire, your command shall be heeded immediately," answered the soldier on the right of Grignr as he stared into the barbarians seemingly unaffected face.

  • "Where is your wisdom and power now, your magjesty?" Growled Grignr.

  • Miscellaneous articles required for the maintainance of a castle were piled in disorganized heaps at infrequent intervals toward the wall opposite the barbarian's piercing stare.

  • Grignr spread his legs into a battle stance, steeling his quivering thews for a battle royal with a thing he knew not how to fight.

  • With each hiss of hideous pucker the thing increased in size.

  • "Aye. My people are not tarnished by petty luxuries and baubles. They remain fierce and unconquerable in their native climes."

  • "I detect that you felt more for this fellow than you wish to let on ... but enough of this, We can talk of such matters after we are once more free to do so."

  • The leather wound hilt bending to its utmost limits of endurance, the massive portal swung open with a grating of snapped latch and rusty iron hinges.

  • The acolyte performing the sacrifice took a vicious blow to the stomach; hands clutching vitals and severed spinal cord as he sprawled over the altar.

  • Proud of my 13yro son. Used #imagemagick on the #cli because it was easier than opening up something like #gimp.

  • With #ai agents executing #cyberattacks unknowingly to it owner, I wonder how #governments will fair when regular users start asking help from #aiagents for help on their taxes?

  • Still not calling LLMs "AI". Still not calling cryptocurrency "crypto". Still more than happy to be incredibly stubborn about this. Still very disappointed you've allowed scammers and grifters to have such broad terms. #Chatgpt #Cryptocurrency #Artificialintelligence #Llm #Cryptography

  • I guess I should start shopping for a new instance again... Am taking suggestions.

  • I post maybe a few times a month so I doubt I'm holding anyone back from blocking hachyderm. That said, on the very slim chance I am, feel free to send me a message so I can be sure to send a follow from wherever I end up so you can go ahead with that block. Realistically I probably won't get around to serious instance shopping until next week at the earliest and even then it might take time to get stuff sorted.

  • @soatok @phryk I mean, maybe this very much not intended by anyone involved, but admittedly I'm finding it hard to avoid the takeaway that maybe trying to do end-to-end encryption on a federated protocol isn't the best way to approach the problem...

  • It's becoming frustratingly apparent that a lot of folks have never used a search engine that isn't using Google's or Bing's index. On top of that a lot of folks either don't know or have long forgotten how to use a search engine that doesn't have Google or Bing style opaque semantic "magic answer box" behaviors, and that's gonna make using alternatives more difficult than one would think. #Search #Searchengine #Searchen...

  • Things that (shh) may have happened this week include converting the scripted 'baddies' to world space for their movement and collision, converting the 'bouncies' to world space including spawning logic etc, converting the mole to world space (Charlie can be standing in a logically different room while the mole munches on a wall in an adjacent room), and fixing jump passability for all rooms to compensate for the scrolling camera. And I may have done some work o...

  • Chapter 16 is up! Financially, 1990 was a miserable year in the UK. Mortgage interest rates hit 15%, and the housing market was in a brutal crash. I didn't escape unscathed, and after giving up my house, I needed a new place to live. And so it was that I made the acquaintance of a contemptible fellow on the tough streets of Liverpool 6. A shorter chapter this time, a 700-word snack between courses. https://stevewetherill.substack.com/p/chapter-16-the-twat #Memoir #GameDevelopment #...

  • Here is some random gameplay from the work-in-progress version of Nodes of Yesod on the Spectrum Next. Still many rough edges, but the core game is pretty much there. This isn't meant to be a polished video by any means, as you can tell, since I keep forgetting where the munchable walls are. :) Things currently in the build but not evident from the video: - Edge jumping. Back in 1985, it was kind of expected that platform games would require pixel-perfect jump timing. And 1985 me was O...

  • I'm 16 chapters in on the scribblings I am calling my memoir. Closing in on the first 10 years of my career (and the 20 that came before). I am about 4 chapters out from that point, with a few ups and downs still to come. Granted, my games industry story has another 30-plus years after that. If you're interested in what the games industry was like in those halcyon days of the 1980s, you're more than welcome to drop by and read for free. Even better, subscribe to my Subst...

  • For some reason, I forgot to include this photo in my recollections of the 1990s-era Eldritch The Cat. Pictured here (left to right) are Dave Collins, Mark McCubbin, Stefan Walker, Marc Wilding, and me. I'll fix this omission in the book version. I am clearly, obviously, having a real phone conversation with a real person on our very real fancy phone system that we paid for and that evidently needed to be a character in this scene. While drinking a coffee, while posing for a photo. We...
